“Krazy” people will come out of the woodwork Sept. 18 in the name of raising dollars for the Central Island United Way.

The inaugural Krazy Kar Rally was held last year in torrential rain with 48 entries. At the end of the day there were some soggy competitors but almost $8,000 was raised and it all stayed in the Comox Valley.

The date has been changed for 2010 and the weather gods have been notified to bring on the sunshine. The second annual event is sponsored by CIBC and 97.3 The Eagle.

What is a Krazy Kar Rally?

It’s a treasure hunt challenge that you and your team do in your car. You will receive mysterious instructions as the rally begins at Driftwood Mall and you and your team then must do your best to figure out the clues and find the answers. It’s not about how fast you complete the rally course but about how many correct answers you get.

In fact, if you finish too fast, you will lose points! The course is designed with safety in mind and will give rally riders a great tour of our beautiful home on the Island. The concept of the event is to have fun but also to raise money for the United Way. Whatever money is raised here will stay here.

This year there is a silent auction and lots of great prizes that will include our grand prize of your own fishing show on national TV — you and a guest will be given a guided fishing tour with television host Jason Gauthier of the national outdoors show Jason’s Adventures.

The show is broadcast nationally on Global Television and your excursion will be filmed for broadcast at a later date.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The rally ends with live entertainment, a barbecue and even more prizes at Comox Marina Park.
